How to plan the perfect wedding
Once the question has been asked, it might wash a wave of planning-related anxiety over you. You might be thinking, where do I start in planning a wedding? Don’t worry, we’ve put together a breakdown for making those big wedding decisions.
This breakdown will help you determine what needs to be done first and when. The experts say that breaking wedding planning into workable chunks is the most efficient way to get everything done.
Make a “Wedding Plan Checklist”
Similar to our party planning blog, we suggest writing down everything you need to sort out, so you can tick off each task as you go. This will ease the planning pressure!
18-12 months before the wedding
Work out your budget
One of the key things to do first is set a budget, as this will influence all your choices along the way. Break down the budget by priority, considering which aspects you want to spend the most on and where you could save money.
Choose a theme
Having a strong theme will save time along the wedding planning journey. You’ll need to choose colours, and decoration ideas and work out which flowers will complement your theme. You might find some inspiration here!
Save the date
Obviously, you’ll need to pick a date and check that your favourite venues have availability. Once you’ve decided on a date and asked about some venues, you should consider adding a marquee to the location. With the date chosen, you can also pick out save-the-date stationery ready to send out to guests.
Book your venue
This is a very important job to get done as soon as you’ve chosen your date. Wedding venues book very far in advance, so if you have a place in mind you might have to join a waiting list. Usually, booking a year or two in advance will be enough. This shows how important getting this job done early is. Maybe write this one in bold and underline it a few times…
Book a Wedding Marquee
Marquees are the perfect space option for a wedding. You can have a large dancefloor area and an ample seating area, maintaining the open space. If you need a bar, we hire those out with our marquees too. We love to provide unforgettable spaces for weddings and have taken part in many dream days. Make sure to check out the extra features you could add to one of our marquees.
Draw up a guest list
An important job to get done early is to make your guest list. Start with close family and friends then build out from there. There are no worries if you go over the initial headcount, there’s time to prune the list before you send out your Save the Date cards. You can make a reserve list to fill spaces if any of your guests cannot attend.
Purchase wedding insurance
It’s important to purchase wedding insurance early in the planning process. This will protect you from damage and liabilities on your special day.
