In our day-to-day lives we are all being urged to think about how we use consumables; are they necessary, and do we need to consider a more eco-friendly approach.
Here at Lewis Marquees we are all too aware of the importance of your Wedding Day, one of the biggest in your life. We have a wedding marquee to suit you whether it is a large gathering or a smaller more intimate affair. Our team will, of course, be on hand right from the moment you start to plan until your special day comes to an end. We’ll help you make the decision of which marquee is right for your occasion with our expert and knowledgeable service. Maybe you want an eco- friendly event that minimises the impact on our environment?
Decorating your marquee with flower alternatives
Flowers are beautiful, but when it comes to decorating your chosen marquee consider the use of stunning greenery that is available for free all around us. Use potted plants that can be planted out in gardens after your event or collect glass jars and pots and fill with herbs or foliage. Apart from the environmental benefits, your purse also profits. If you choose to use cut flowers, source those that are easily available. Picking a lily from the far reaches of our planet is environmentally costly. Candles and tea lights give a stunning ambience to your marquee and can again be placed in recycled jars.
Source seasonal local produce
Food will be high on your priority list and we are here to help get it right, however small or large your budget. Choose to source local produce and preferably food that is in season. The carbon footprint will be massively reduced and you will be serving delicious fayre to your most important guests. Choose certified sustainable wines if possible, thereby protecting the environment.
Dress your tables beautifully
Avoid using disposable tableware including plates, tablecloths, cups, glasses and straws. As well as the conservation issue, china, linen and glass are far more presentable and will look beautiful on your dressed tables. Again, this does not necessarily need to cost the earth. It is quite fashionable these days to have a mix and match effect with a range of crockery and glasses, all of which can be collected by friends and relatives, giving them some input and saving a packet. Of course you could get your guests to turn up with the glass of their choice that they can take home at the end of the day!
When it comes to the ‘Wedding List’ do you really need more stuff? We all have collections at the back of our cupboards, often items that will never see the light of day. Alternatively, consider making a gesture to something close to your heart. You can of course tell your friends and family just to bring themselves!
However you choose to dress your wedding marquee and fill your special day, we will be here to support you every step of the way.
